Here's a list of supplies and other starting info

1) Cage (safe, ventilated, escape proof)

2) Water bottle (try not to get a bowl because the ham could fall in ((especially babies)) or it could spill)

3) Food dish

4) Wheel

5) Food

6) Bedding (NOT cedar or pine, aspen is best)

7) Water (clean and fresh)

8) Toys (a hamster wheel is pretty much a must and wooden chewsticks are good for keeping their teeth in  good shape. Of course there is a wide variety of toys for hamsters out there! Just look around your local department/pet store! Always be sure they are safe though)

9) A hamster ball so they can roll around outside their cage would be great

10) A couple of safe and yummy ham treats

11) Your new hamster!

When you bring home your hamster make sure the cage is ready, there is fresh food in a dish, and fresh, clean, water. Leave him or her be for the first 2 or 3 days so he/she can get use to his/her new surroundings. The only exeption is to change his food and water and talk to him/her sofly through the cage. Or in a rare case if he/she seems to have something wrong with him/her. But hopefully this will not happen. When the 2 to 3 days are up you can start handling him/her!
