Step by step on how to breed your hamsters.

Ahh, breeding. Something most hamster owners look forward to. Keeping notes is a good idea to compare to future breeedings, but this is up to you.

1) Make sure your male and female are in excellent health and are of appropiate age before trying to breed.
2) Fighting at first is normal, but if it doesn't stop put a thick glove on and try to separate them. You should NEVER put the male in the females cage because females are more territorial and the female may even kill the male if this is done.
3) At first put their cages up beside each other if possible. Hopefully they will meet at the bars (if you have a aquarium this may not work).
4) After a couple of days PUT THE FEMALE IN THE MALE'S (females are more territorial and may kill your male if he's in her cage) cage and leave them in there for about 30-60 minutes. Do this for about 5-7 days, this should be enough to get her pregnant.
5) Wait about 5-7 days before putting her back in the male's cage. has she gotten fatter? If so, congratulations. If not, then repeat step 4 until successful.
